  2. Financial Thought: The Boring Stuff
  3. Life Thought: Always Tired
  4. Good Sh*t: The Next Hamilton?

Photo From My Life:

Two friends and I took scooters to lunch in Charlevoix last week. It felt almost like we were a gang in search of delicious sandwiches. Would recommend some low-powered scooters (or e-bikes) and a good adventure with friends.

Financial Thought:

The Boring Stuff: Content is one of the main drivers of my business growth. I write this newsletter, I post on Linkedin and Twitter, and even create videos for YouTube and Instagram. Because of this public presence, I'm often tempted to only focus on the topics that drive clicks and views.

Everyone wants to talk about tax strategies, alternative investments, private equity, AI-powered portfolios, or the latest market prediction. Yes, these things are interesting. Yes, they also gets clicks.

But in my experience, the biggest financial wins usually come from compounding the boring stuff. None of these things are exciting. Almost no one brags about finally updating their power of attorney. But, they're important. A big part of my job is holding people accountable to doing the simple things they've been meaning to do for years.

So, here's a list of a few boring things you can do this weekend if you have some extra time. Each one will help your long-term financial situation!

  1. Update your beneficiary designations on all investment accounts
  2. Determine if you have the right life insurance (and/or disability insurance)
  3. Consolidate old retirement accounts into your new 401k or an IRA (my preference)
  4. Create a "If I Die" Folder for your spouse/family so they have a clear picture of your financial life
  5. Figure out what your savings rate was for the last 12 months and set a goal for the next 12 months
  6. Updating estate documents after births, deaths, marriages, or divorce

Life Thought:

Post Malone Gets Tattoos That Read 'Always Tired' Under His Eyes

Always Tired: I used to think Post Malone’s “Always Tired” face tattoo was a joke. Now, I think he was just ahead of his time. I’m pretty convinced our generation is permanently tired.

We’re trying to build great careers while being present moms and dads. We’re trying to stay healthy, make it to the gym, keep up with friends, invest for retirement, read books, answer emails, drink enough water, get eight hours of sleep, and somehow still enjoy life.

I'm not going to lie, most days I think getting everything done is impossible. And because of that, I tend to give up the half-marathon training I've been pressured into. Maybe I just need to start drinking coffee.

The funny part is I know one day I’ll miss this season of life. I’ll miss having a young family and living in chaos. But that doesn’t change the fact that this stage of life is demanding. It’s mentally (and physically) exhausting.

So, my big message this week? Life is f*cking hard, but it's a privilege to have a hard life. So, go take a nap and keep crushing it.

Good Sh*t:

The Next Hamilton?: I'm a sucker for historical fiction and love a good war movie. The YouTube algorithm is smart and targeted me with this new musical movie about the revolutionary war. Is this the next Hamilton? I don't know yet, but I do know that I put the release date on my calendar. All about priorities.
